Private Label Skin Care Our oldest private label skin care formulator, Rebecca James Gadberry, is an award-winning journalist, lecturer, and instructor of cosmetic sciences at UCLA extension in Los Angeles, where she has taught since 1986. She has been called the foremost skin care ingredient expert in the world. Absolute Necessities has retailed Rebecca’s formulations for 20 years. We have faithfully attended her lectures and changed our technology along with her research. Check out Rebecca's Bio. Rebecca’s Formulation Creed We Take Ingredients Seriously Our products contain Performance Ingredients at Effective Levels to get the job done. We stabilize fragile ingredients (like vitamins A and C or antioxidant-rich plant extracts) to make sure they retain their strength from the product to the skin. And we use special delivery vehicles that enhance penetration, so a client can experience dramatic results.
We Use Plant & Mineral Sources Whenever possible, we choose plant or mineral-derived ingredients, not those from animals or petroleum. We choose multi-functional antioxidants, standardized botanicals, phytonutrients and other performance ingredients that have been proven bio-effective in scientific studies - then we use them at the same concentration used in the studies and protect these ingredients in the finished product.
We Use Drug Free Solutions We prefer to use a gentle, drug - free approach to achieve great looking skin. We use non drug solutions for acne-prone skin, sensitive skin, irritation, dryness, chronic redness, aging and skin discolorations. We want results without the discomfort or side-effects that can be caused by many OTC drugs.
We Don’t Use Harsh Ingredients We avoid sulfates, mineral oil, petroleum, lanolin, solvent, alcohols, synthetic color, synthetic fragrance, comedogenic ingredients, propylene glycol, imidazolidinyl urea, diazolidinyl urea, quaternium 15, DMDM hydantion or 2-bromo-e nitropropane-1, 3-diol. We limit the use of stearic acid, stearyl alcohol and glyceryl stearate because we’ve found they make dry and sensitive skin more irritable. We limit irritants because science has proven that chronic inflammation is the bottom-line of aging. We even add soothing ingredients when irritation isn’t a problem.
We’re Cruelty-Free The only animals used to test our products are humans. We do this to make sure your product works.
Extensive Product and Ingredient Testing Stability testing is done for broad-spectrum, microbiology, heat, cold, light and container compatibility. Other tests are performed to ensure maximum product stability and efficacy. We require our ingredient suppliers to provide proof of efficacy before we review an ingredient for use in our products. Efficacy is the ability to produce the necessary or desired results (it must be worthy and have value).
Dermatologist-Testing Products developed for sensitive skin undergo one month of Repeat Insult Patch Testing (FIPT) on 50 subjects, which is reviewed and approved by board-certified dermatologists prior to the product’s release.
Ophthalmologist-Approval Products created for the eye area are subjected to pre-market approval by qualified ophthalmologists. |
